Site-Specific PERFORMANCE and Installations

Both AUGORG Finland and AUGORG Bangladesh dance film projects produced unique site-specific live performance and/or landscaped installation works. Either of these works can be recontextualized for conventional performance spaces and both works also amalgamate various performance creation research, methodologies, and practices of dance and film. These site specific works help to provide further dialogue connecting film works and dialogues around social and environmental activism.

Mukta Site-Specific Performance

Directly linked to the AUGORG Finland research project’s focus on Environmentally Adaptive Choreography, this site-specific performance continues to apply this elemental methodology of movement, exploring and responding to the Bangladeshi landscape, becoming an experimental bridge between identity and environment; the individual (organism) and the collective (ecosystem), the seen and unseen, locality and globality, traditional and contemporary, also closing the gap between the extreme expressions of masculinity and femininity. The purpose of the performance was to be activated by the space whilst activating healing energies in space through an intuitive awareness and a psychophysiological responsive dialogue with the natural world.

This work features a guest appearance from Anusheh Anadil. Anusheh's search for understanding has brought her close to the heart of music, art and philosophy that lies at the root of her birth place, Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s powerful folk arts and spirituality have become the canvas for her musical and artistic journey. She speaks for the earth. Sings for the earth. Creates with the earth. We were happy to connect and collaborate together on this project.

Finland

The following video was a first development, somewhat of an archive, that represents the amalgamation of various practices that we utilise as designers and makers of transformative spaces for ritual and performance. Within the ritual space we created for this development, each of the episodic film chapters of the Finland iteration of this project (Misty Mirror, Skydance, Dark Lady, Necrosis, Singing Trees) was performed as a first prototype expressive of processes and aesthetics. Each of the different chapters also had specific symbols, materials, colours and costume stemming from the merging of identity and environment. The colours represented in the development here on the project screen also helped to inform sonochromatic audiovisual grading in postproduction.

Comprising of separate outdoor and indoor modules the live AUGORG performance installations include dance/movement, audiovisual sonochromatic score, photography/video and text as well as landscaped/set designs that can be recontextualised based on geographic location, surrounding natural/social climates or presentation forum.
