the AugOrg project

Watch Part 3 of the Augmented Organism Project, Dark Lady now

A collaboration between Cy Gorman & Jazmyne Geis in association with Neil Harbisson, Augmented Organism is a project bringing together film making, choreography, environmental activism & sonochromaticism combined with world wisdom traditions and myths.

AUGORG's purpose is to create engaging globally oriented art & design supporting the voice of our natural world & use technologies of today and tomorrow to reconnect us back to the importance of Mother Earth.

AUGORG sees nature as an intelligent voice that needs to not only be heard but also acted upon. AUGORG values connection & communication with land; geographically, geomatically & geo-socially.

AUGORG's vision is to design, produce & develop environmentally harmonic presence and activity amongst shared global digital and material networks & communities.

The AUGORG project comprises three main areas:

Short Film Series

Directed & filmed by Cy Gorman & featuring Jazmyne Geis, this suite of five short films journeys through Finnish landscapes, augmented as sonochromatic audiovisual art and design.

Characterisation is strongly emphasised as an expression of environment.

Strongly emotive & augmented movements are performed by both the central character and the cinematographer to further integrate the inherent connection between the observer and the observed; the identity and the environment.

Live Installation & Performance

Each of the short films' central identities and environments were interpreted & amalgamated into a live installation & performance work originally performed at The Arteles Creative Center in Finland.

Comprising of both indoor & outdoor modules the live AUGORG performance installation includes dance/movement, audiovisual score, photography/video and text as well as landscape & set designs that can be recontextualised based on performance conditions, geographic location or surrounding natural & social climates.

Interdisciplinary Workshops & Research

The production phase of AUGORG at Arteles Center focused heavily on the production of performance and film. However the process and production design of AUGORG media, performance assets & interdisciplinary workshop module creation integrates the following areas of research:

  • Sonochromaticism
  • The relationship between technology & mythology
  • Communication of identity as environment & environment as identity
  • Biomagnetics as a creative conceptual impetus & blossoming phenomenological sense mechanism of human beings.
